Every year I set intentions, goals, and resolutions. And every year I start off with a huge list of aspirations, only to find I’m sidetracked by the mundane tasks of everyday life. I always make some progress, of course, but never as much as I think I should.
This year, I’m trying something a little bit different. Yes, I have my list of goals written down. And yes, I have placed them somewhere where I can see them regularly. And yes, I have started the process of breaking each goal down into required steps that I can move on at regular intervals.
This list is different. This list is just stuff I want to try out this year. Nothing fancy. No lofty goals. Just stuff on my “to-do” list of the mind.
I LOVE sushi. If I had to give one answer to “where do you want to eat tonight?” and I knew the other people in my party weren’t allergic, I’d opt for sushi every time.
I also love to cook. So it’s a little strange I haven’t made the leap to try my hand at sushi. That’ll change this year!
Starting a New Business from Scratch
I have run several businesses, but never made a huge amount of money from them. I’ve made a good living, true, but I’m not what you’d call “rich.” This year, I’d like to try creating another new business from scratch, encompassing everything I’ve learned over the years about creating, building, and growing a business. I haven’t focused in on a specific concept just yet, but Amanda has some brilliant ideas that I think warrant serious development.
Hey, I didn’t say it had to be my business.
Publishing on Kindle
I’ve always been a pretty prolific and effective writer. But for some reason I’ve never finished an entire book. This year, I’d like to try my hand at jumping on board the Kindle wagon and seeing what happens there. In a previous job I became pretty familiar with the publishing process for Kindle, and I wouldn’t mind doing a book or two — even in short reads formats. Maybe a couple of non-fiction guides and a novella. I have notes for all of those things anyway. Might as well put them to good use!
This one usually falls under the resolutions, but this year I?d like to try actually organizing my office. Not just my business office mind you, but my home office as well. It’s sort of one and the same. Between all the files and information I have for work and all the kid stuff like medical records and appointments, car stuff like repairs and warranties, and who knows what else, it’s probably time to put my actual training to work and streamline this whole operation.
Welcome to the PinWarriors Corporation Head Office. Time to go Six Sigma on this sucker.
Going Meat Free
I’m not a vegetarian. Not by a long shot. But I do care about the environment and I do want to show my kids how to live consciously. So when I say “meat free,” I’m talking more about the Earth Rangers version. One day a week, strictly vegetables and fruits. Not even dairy (gasp! But the cheese!! …I know, it’s terrifying). Honestly, it’s once a week, so what the heck.
That’s it for this week. #TopFiveFridays is a feature we’ll be running every Friday throughout 2018, just because it’s fun! Keep an eye on Twitter each week and see who else is trending with #TopFiveFridays throughout the year!
